Doch damit nicht genug. Die Künstlerin ist eine fein.- und scharfsinnige
Interpretin unserer Zeit und ihrer sozialen Phänomene,
die mit ihren Ausdrucksformen experimentiert und sie weiterentwickelt
ausgehend von dem Bedürfnis sich Fragen zu stellen und sich darauf
einen ganzen Fächer von Antworten zu geben.
Petronilla ist Künstlerin und Anthropologin . Die Art und Weise der teilnehmenden Beobachtung der sozialen Umwelt, welche die Grundlage ihrer Kunst
bildet, bleibt auch heute noch eine der grund-
legenden Paradigmen der humanistischen Disziplinen.
Ausser der intellektuellen Anstrengung, der es bedarf, um sich
in die Lage des Beobachters zu versetzen, ohne die eigene Identität
zu verlieren, gelingt es Petronilla auch, sich jeden Urteils zu enthalten.

The sculptures, the female characters created by the artist Petronilla (Nelly) Bührle-Anwander, invite us to smile — even to laugh.
But there is much more to them than that. The artist is a subtle and sharp observer of our time and its social phenomena. Through her forms of expres-sion, she experiments and continues to develop her work, driven by the need to ask questions and to offer herself an entire spectrum of possible answers.
Petronilla is both an artist and an anthropologist. The way she engages in participant observation of her social environment, which forms the foundation of her art, remains one of the fundamental paradigms of the humanities to this day.
Beyond the intellectual effort required to place oneself in the position of an observer without losing one’s own identity, Petronilla also suc-ceeds in refraining from any form of judgement.
